Boris, Beware: Neighborhood Watch Signs Are Going Up

boris

A big thanks to our Street Maintenance Department for installing these signs today!

For those who may not be familiar with Boris the Burglar™, he is the image depicted on the Neighborhood Watch signs that can be seen in various locations throughout Mountain View.

As part of the National Sheriffs’ Association, who own the rights to Boris, a program was created to help prevent and reduce crime at the neighborhood level, specifically property crime. These warning signs became representative of neighborhoods who take part in working together with local law enforcement to combat crime.

This afternoon, several new signs will be posted in various communities in Mountain View who participate in Neighborhood Watch. If you want to learn more about how to start an official Neighborhood Watch group in your community, check out USAonWatch.
