We can confirm the victim in last night’s shooting, a 38 year-old black male, has died. We are still looking to identify the suspect of the shooting described as a black male in his 20’s with short hair between 5’6″ and 5’8″. At the time of the incident, he was wearing all black and perhaps white pants along with a red baseball cap. The weapon seen in the shooting appears to be a black pistol with a large magazine.

On Friday, August 22, 2014 at approximately 11:05PM, we received multiple calls of shots fired at Shoreline Amphitheatre located at 1 Amphitheatre Parkway during the Wiz Khalifa concert. We can confirm one individual was shot multiple times and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Outside agencies responded to Shoreline Amphitheatre to assist us with the ongoing investigation. At this time, we are looking for any witnesses who may have information leading to the suspect(s). If anyone has any video, photos or similar of the shooting, or the backstage area leading up to the shooting, please contact us as soon as possible at the following:

A review of the city’s permitting process may be in order. While censoring event content is not appropriate, each type of event does have documented propensities for serious issues. Some events have performances that actually encourage violence as a theme.
As an example: Will the City permit process allow a ‘Rave Hip Hop’ event at Shoreline while recent history shows it will produce a high level of arrests?
Do our Public Safety officers have input to the permit process?
Is the City of Mountain View’s permit process driven by Public Safety concerns or other factors?
