From The Chief’s Desk: Meeting with Peninsula Interfaith Association

I met with representatives of PIA (Peninsula Interfaith Association) in regards to their concerns over the practice of towing vehicles of unlicensed drivers.  They are primarily from St. Joseph Church in Mountain View and were accompanied by Father Bob who provides such wonderful community leadership  in Mountain View.  I listened to their heartfelt concern over the impact the fear their community members experience over having their vehicle impounded for thirty days and how it creates fear of the police.  They respectfully heard me as I shared with them our duty in the police department to enforce the law, keep the roadways safe and prevent unlicensed drivers from continuing to drive.

They are always an organized, sincere and committed group to deal with.  While it would be nice to always give people the answer they want to hear when they come to see me, that is not really possible.  I committed to them to always be open to meeting and working with them on any issue I can.  Their last request was to take a picture with me in my office.
