K9 Officer Hansen’s Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest Of Three Suspects And Recovery Of Property

On June 13, 2013 at approximately 2:45PM, K9 Officer Hansen conducted a traffic stop on a green Honda Accord driven by suspect Maldonado and occupied by suspects Toliseli and Miranda. During the traffic stop, Officer Hansen observed property in the vehicle that appeared suspicious and called for additional MVPD units.

Through her investigation, Officer Hansen found the vehicle and suspect matched the description of a burglary attempt out of Sunnyvale. The driver and occupants were found to have been involved in a series of burglaries affecting Palo Alto, Redwood City and San Mateo County.

The traffic stop soon turned into a much larger case and detectives from multiple agencies responded to MVPD to assist in the investigation. This included Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, Palo Alto Police Department, Redwood City Police Department and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. All three suspects were eventually booked into the San Mateo County Jail for residential burglary and conspiracy. You can read more about the investigation here.

Thanks to Officer Hansen’s proactive police work and keen eye, we removed three burglary suspects from the community and recovered stolen property.
