Alert Witness Leads Officers To Arrest Of Indecent Exposure Suspect

As the result of an observant and quick-thinking Mountain View witness who wrote down a suspect’s license plate — and then immediately called police — MVPD officers were able to locate, identify and arrest 20 year-old Nathan Perine out of San Carlos and Redwood City.

On February 4, 2014 at approximately 12:27PM, officers responded to the 700 block of Mercy Street on the report of a male subject who had exposed himself. A witness called MVPD stating a male subject, later identified as Perine, drove by the witness exposing and touching himself in an inappropriate manner.

Perine is currently on court probation and was placed under arrest for this violation, as well as 314 of the Penal Code (Indecent Exposure). He was booked into San Jose Main Jail without incident.

Detective Sgt. Canfield stated, “Timeliness in apprehending suspect’s in situations like this is critical. Because of the witness in this case, we were able to respond to the scene, locate the suspect and make an arrest. We absolutely depend on the Mountain View community to contact us when they see something that isn’t quite right. Remember to call 9-1-1 should you ever be witness to a scenario like this one.”
