12th Annual “Cops That Care” Holiday Gift Giving Program Starts Today

Cops That Care 2013

Attendees at our 2013 “Cops That Care” event. It was a full house!

Founded in 2003 by now retired Mountain View Police Officer Ron Cooper, the Mountain View Police Activities League (MVPAL) is proud to continue on with his annual “Cops That Care” holiday giving event. As of today, Monday, December 1st, we are accepting donations for this amazing holiday tradition.

Every year, we rely on monetary and toy donations from you, our amazing community, who make it possible for over 1,700 Mountain View children to have an even more special and fun holiday! To learn how you can participate and/or donate, please read on.

MVPD officers and personnel volunteer their time every year to help out at this great event.

This year’s event will be held at our new location at the Rengstorff Community Center located at 201 South Rengstorff Avenue on Saturday, December 20, 2014 from 7:00AM to 3:00PM.

This program is designed for families in Mountain View who are unable to purchase gifts for their children this holiday season. Parents or guardians of participating children will be asked to present verification that shows their child’s connection to Mountain View. Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Driver’s license/ID card with a Mountain View address
  • School report card
  • School identification
  • Child day care enrollment form or bill
  • Utility bill

No appointment is necessary; however, children must bring a parent or guardian. Please plan ahead for a wait time due to the anticipated number of young people converging on the community center. Why? Because we’ve received intel direct from the North Pole that a jolly old elf in a big red suit may be making a special appearance.

Shop with a Cop was brought to Rolla Mo. in 1988. It was brought here by Seth Turner who passed away this passed June. He started in Las Vegas Nv. in 1987. And it has continued to grow all over the country.
