{VIDEO} Introducing Our First New Police Vehicle

The Mountain View Police Department will be replacing our current Ford Crown Victoria Police Vehicle fleet with the all-new Chevrolet Caprice Police Vehicle; and we’re excited to announce the first Caprice is here and ready to hit the streets.

MVPD has a total of 32 marked patrol vehicles (the Crown Victoria was discontinued in 2012), which will be replaced with the Caprices as each one comes out of service.

The new vehicles bring several advancements including:

  • Better performance

More detailed information can be found at the General Motors website. In the meantime, keep an eye out for our new vehicles!

Very glad to see that Mountain View is choosing reasonably sized and fuel efficient replacement for the Crown Victoria. I have heard of other agencies that are choosing up-sized SUV type vehicles that are actually less efficient, as well as the myriad of other problems SUVs create – larger mass causes more damage to other vehicles, blocks view from other vehicles…
