Alfred Banks, a 60 year-old East Palo Alto resident, was arrested by Menlo Park Police on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 for outstanding warrants stemming from a Mountain View Police Department investigation into several commercial burglaries.
From late May of 2014 to mid-December of 2014, several restaurant establishments throughout our City were victims of burglaries. In each burglary, the suspect used a heavy object to smash the front window or glass door and made off with the contents of the cash register or, in some cases, the entire cash register.
Through surveillance video and persistent investigation by MVPD Detectives, Banks was identified as a suspect. A warrant was issued for his arrest on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, and he was located and arrested in East Palo Alto on February 10, 2015. Banks is also believed to be responsible for similar burglaries throughout Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Redwood City.
“Crimes like these are solved through thorough and tenacious investigations, as well as collaboration with our law enforcement partners,” said Detective Andrew Wong. “This arrest is a great example of that partnership and communication – keeping our communities safe.”
