We are asking the public’s help in identifying a man caught taking packages from a home in Mountain View last week.
Around 1:40 p.m. on Dec. 16, an unknown man drove up to a home on the 200 block of Hamilton Avenue in a dark-colored, four door sedan.
The man is seen on home surveillance footage casually walking up to the front stoop. He leans over and picks up two packages and returns to his car.
The man then backs out of the home’s driveway and drives off. He was caught a short time later on another home’s surveillance video just a few blocks over.
He is described as an adult Asian man, medium in height with a thin build. He has a moustache and was last seen wearing a black, long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.
Anyone with any information on the man is asked to please call the Mountain View Police Department at 650-903-6344 and ask for Sgt. Tony Vieyra.
TIPS: Package thefts see an upswing during the holiday season, but there are ways to ensure that your packages are not taken. You can schedule your package delivery for a time that you are home. You can also have your packages delivered to your work during business hours.
If you feel comfortable doing so, you can have the package either delivered to a neighbor or have a neighbor pick up the package from your front porch and keep it for you until you get home. If you are an Amazon user, you can take advantage of Amazon Locker, where you can pick up your package from local pickup locations.
