Mountain View police recently arrested a man who inappropriately touched a young girl in a downtown Mountain View business.
Around 8:49 p.m. on March 1, Mountain View police responded to Books, Inc., located at 301 Castro St., after they received a call that a man in the store was groping customers, one of whom was a 10-year-old girl.
Officers were given a description of the man, who had left the store before police arrived, and quickly found him down the block. Mountain View police approached the man, later identified as 29-year-old Max Davidson, a transient, and began talking to him.
During that time, officers learned that Davidson inappropriately touched a young girl while inside the store. They also learned he had grabbed other women inside the store and that he had exposed himself to some of the customers.
Davidson was arrested for indecent exposure (PC 314), sexual battery (PC 243.4(a)) and lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age, among other charges.
He was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.
“This was a great team effort among MVPD patrol officers, MVPD detectives and the witnesses in our community that assisted us,” said Mountain View Det. Ricky Smith. “Together, we all did our part in taking Davidson off of our streets. Truly great work done by all involved. Way to step up, Mountain View.”
