Uber Driver Arrested for Assault on Police Parking Assistant

On October 13, 2016, at 6:29 p.m., one of our police assistants was conducting parking enforcement in downtown Mountain View when he saw an Uber driver (later identified as being Mohammadi) drop off a fare and park along the marked red zone located at the northeast corner of Bryant Street and California Street. The police assistant parked behind Mohammadi and began the process of issuing a parking ticket. A brief confrontation ensued before Mohammadi backed into and pushed the police assistant’s parking attendant vehicle backwards. Fortunately, our police assistant was able to get out of the way and was not harmed.

Ghulam Mohammadi, 62 years old, was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on one charge of Assault With a Deadly Weapon – 245(a)(1) P.C.
