On Thursday, one of our officer’s keen eyes and good memory helped in the arrest of a man wanted in connection with a commercial burglary that happened in Mountain View the week before.
On Feb. 23 around 7:30 am, two of our officers responded to an apartment complex on the 100 block of Calderon Avenue for reports of a man who was found sleeping in the complex’s clubhouse restroom. When our officers arrived, one of them recognized the man, identified as 29-year-old transient Frank Braby, to be wearing the same outfit seen on a commercial burglary suspect the week before. In that case, the suspect, who was captured on surveillance video, wore distinctive clothing and stole several pieces of merchandise, including laptop computers, from a business on the 400 block of Clyde Avenue.
While speaking with Braby, one of the laptops taken from the business was found in his possession.
Our officers cited Braby for trespassing for sleeping without permission in the apartment complex’s restroom, and he was subsequently arrested for possession of stolen property and burglary. The stolen laptop was returned to the business.
