A Palo Alto man was arrested in connection with a stabbing on Phyllis Avenue late Monday night that left one person injured with multiple stab wounds.
Shortly before 10 pm, we responded to reports of a stabbing in the 1100 block of Phyllis Avenue. When we arrived, a victim was found suffering from at least one stab wound. That victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Their condition is not available at this time.
A rapid response by our officers to the scene also allowed us to detain one man, later identified as 55-year-old Palo Alto resident Paul Goldman, who was attempting to leave the area. He was subsequently identified as the suspect in this case, and he was arrested on attempted murder charges. He and the victim did know one another, however this was an isolated incident and there is no threat whatsoever to public safety. Officers are continuing to investigate this case, and we will update you as we are able.
Goldman is being held without bail at the Santa Clara County Jail. Phyllis Avenue was closed for several hours while our crime scene investigators cleared the area. It reopened early this morning.
We will continue to updated you on our social media channels as this case progresses. Please feel free to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Nextdoor.
