Great teamwork with our neighbors at Los Altos PD Monday resulted in the arrest of a man believed to be connected to multiple residential burglaries.
Around 6:30 pm, one of our officers responded to a report of a residential burglary on the 1200 block of Fairbrook Drive. The suspect in that case had allegedly walked into the home’s open garage and stolen a Specialized bike. Fortunately, the victim was able to provide a detailed description of the suspect, whom they claimed they had spotted running past the home just before the crime occurred.
While investigating the theft, Los Altos PD notified us they had a similar case and had arrested a man matching the description provided by the victim in the Mountain View case. We met with Los Altos PD and were able to speak with the suspect, identified as 22-year-old San Jose resident Pablo Bautista.
In speaking with Bautista, we learned that he had a storage locker that we believed had additional stolen items. We went to the locker on Tuesday and recovered several stolen bikes, including the one taken from the Mountain View burglary.
We want to thank Los Altos PD for all of their hard work and help in this case. We appreciate the teamwork that went into successfully resolving this case! We are working to return the stolen property that was recovered to its rightful owners, so please be on the lookout for additional posts in the coming days if we need help reuniting the items with their owners!
This case also serves as a reminder to people to keep track of your bike’s serial number. This is a quick and easy way to locate stolen property when we take a report and when we find a bike that has been taken or has been missing.
