MVPD needs your help identifying residential burglary suspects who fled scene of crime

Mountain View officers are asking the public to help identify two individuals who fled the scene of a residential burglary earlier today that resulted in a pursuit.

Around 11:30 am, officers responded to reports of two men entering a home’s garage on the 1000 block of Marilyn Drive. The caller notified us that they had heard the men get into the garage through an unlocked side door. The caller told us that they went into their garage and startled the men, who then turned around and left. The men were seen leaving the home in a dark gray Toyota Highlander with paper plates. One of our officers spotted the car in the area, and began to follow it.

The driver of the vehicle quickly picked up speed as they headed onto northbound Highway 237. Our officer, along with two of our motor officers, followed the SUV from Highway 237 to Highway 101 in San Jose. The car, which was driving at a high rate of speed, then got onto northbound Interstate 280 before exiting at Bird Avenue in San Jose and continuing onto surface streets. Mountain View officers ended their pursuit at that point, notifying the California Highway Patrol and the San Jose Police Department of the suspicious vehicle and the circumstances that led to the pursuit.

The driver is described as a Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s with black hair and a dark sweatshirt. The passenger in the car is described as a Hispanic male also in his late teens or early 20s with black hair. He was wearing a red sweatshirt.

We are asking that anyone in the neighborhood who may have camera footage of these two men to please contact the Mountain View Police Department. Also, we are asking residents — even if you are home — to please lock all windows and doors in areas that are not immediately in your line of sight. When you leave your home, close every window and lock every door.
