Residential Burglary Arrest Made Thanks To Watchful Citizen

A big thanks to you — our community — for assisting us in the apprehension of a residential burglary suspect this morning!

On 6/6/2013 at approximately 0923 a.m., Mountain View Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call from a resident on the 1100 block of Mercy Street on the report of a suspicious subject with a crow bar. The subject, described as a Hispanic male in his 20’s wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans, was peering into a residence on the same street.

While dispatchers remained on the phone with the reporting party, officers responded to the scene and set-up a perimeter. During this time, additional information was relayed to the field of an associated vehicle – an older model, white pick-up truck – which the suspect was seen entering. This vehicle was later found to belong to the suspect.

With sufficient units on-scene, officers made contact with the subject who was subsequently arrested for residential burglary and drug Paraphernalia charges. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail without incident. The subject was identified as Raymundo Ayala Miranda, a 33 year old male from Mountain View, pictured above.

This arrest illustrates how a watchful community member assisted Mountain View Police Department by reporting a suspicious individual who was ultimately arrested on a burglary charge. We continue to urge the Mountain View community, neighbor watch groups and local organizations to report any suspicious individuals and/or activity by calling 9-1-1 or 650-903-6395.
