This is always very difficult for us to talk about, but we wanted to share with you that one of our retired police K9s, Oles, was put to sleep due to medical issues on Wednesday, April 8, 2015.
K9 Oles was born on March 16, 2008 and began his career with the Mountain View Police Department in January of 2010 with his handler, Officer Valenzuela. Under the training and care of Officer Valenzuela, Oles excelled at narcotics detection and obedience training winning top honors in South Lake Tahoe and Manteca, respectively, in 2012 and 2013. K9 Oles retired due to a medical condition on June 29, 2014 after more than four years of dedicated service to our community.
We thank you, Officer Valenzuela, and your family for taking such good care of this amazing police K9. Your partner, Oles, will never be forgotten.
And when our time together is done
and you move on in the world,
Remember me with kind thoughts and tales.
For a time we were unbeatable,
Nothing passed among us undetected.-The Guardians of the Night, Author Unknown
