On Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 6:27am we received numerous 911 calls into our communications center regarding a single vehicle into a tree on Central Expressway between Bernardo and Mary Avenues. The driver, a male adult, was traveling eastbound on Central Expressway when he struck a tree in the center median. When MVPD officers arrived, the driver was trapped in the driver’s seat of the vehicle in critical condition. He was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.
As of this writing, Central Expressway between Bernardo and Mary remains closed to through traffic as we conduct our investigation. We hope to have the lanes opened up by noon today.
We are seeking witnesses who saw the vehicle — a black, four-door, 2008 Mazda 6 — before, during and after the collision. If you have any information, please contact the investigating traffic officer Lloyd Curns at 650-903-6762 and refer to case number 15-4718. Media inquiries can be sent to policepio@mountainview.gov.
