52 Year Old Male Arrested For Solicitation Of Minor
On Tuesday, February 4th, Mountain View Police Department Detectives along with the assistance of the Santa Clara County Specialized Enforcement Team arrested Harlan Edelman, a 52 year old male out of San Francisco, for distribution of electronic, sexually explicit communications to a minor, as well as communicating with a known minor with the intent to commit a sex crime.
An undercover Mountain View Police Department detective, posing as a 17 year old male on a social network, was contacted by Edelman unsolicited. This resulted in an investigation of Edelman who sent sexually explicit material to the undercover detective ultimately agreeing to meet with him in Mountain View.
“The Mountain View Police Department takes all crimes seriously especially those involving sexual predators,” said Detective Sergeant Mike Canfield, “This investigation in particular is a great example of the dedication and hard work of our detectives and the commitment of our department to proactively fight crime.”
Edelman is a high school teacher at The Academy of Arts and Sciences in San Francisco and is currently on a leave of absence.
