On Monday, February 16, 2015 at around 9:23AM, officers responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls regarding a male pedestrian who had been struck near the intersection of Charleston Road and Independence Avenue. The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and was cooperative (alcohol or drugs is not believed to have been a factor) while the pedestrian, who remains in critical condition, was transported to a local hospital.
It appears that the driver of the vehicle was exiting southbound from the shopping center parking lot and turned east onto Charleston Road at which point the pedestrian, who was crossing Charleston Road at Independence Avenue in the crosswalk, was struck. This collision is still under investigation, however, if you witnessed the collision, or have additional information, please call us at 650-903-6395 and reference case number 15-0879.
