A man caught prowling on San Luis Avenue last night was arrested by our officers who had quickly responded to calls by concerned neighbors.
Around 9:15 p.m., our officers were called to the 2000 block of San Luis Avenue where the prowler, later identified as 29-year-old transient Melecio Macawile, Jr., was seen by residents looking into cars.
As officers began to search the area, they noticed a man who was trying to leave and detained him. Macawile, who had a baton attached to a tactical vest he was wearing, was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and numerous burglary tools.
Our officers arrested Macawile for prowling, possession of a baton, possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.
“I am very proud of the teamwork and follow up done by the entire team during this incident,” said Sgt. Wahed Magee. “Everyone took an active role in holding this suspect accountable for his actions. I am glad our team could prevent the public from being victimized by Macawile.”
